sub club and nautilus rising present our fifth release, courtesy of love over entropy. four tracks tried and tested on our dance floor at 22 jamaica street by our beloved saturday night residents. influenced by train journeys, passing landscapes, hiking and over 20 years experience in the studio.

you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

archie hamilton touches down on fuse once more for the mercury rising ep . right hook kicks things off in typical archie style with a snaking groove, resplendent with another one of his trademark catchy b-lines. limbo is the eps vinyl only track and delves a slightly deeper furrow with a headier vibe whilst mercury rounds off the package, a brisk tech-houser with warm attitude via blissed out pads and a charmingly understated synth riff.

joseph white aka joe white is a foundation of jamaican music. he started singing in the late 50 s and did his first recordings for duke reid in the early 60 s. while disco sound was bumping into jamaican people mind, he formed the group roots, trunks & branches to release several tracks on the label splendour heights. “rising / power disco power” is taken from the album the weak will be strong released in 1978. a beautiful extended disco reggae tune mainly played by joe white (drums, piano, vocal). this issue was fully remastered on a disco 45 vinyl record to give respect to the dynamic. on the other side you will get the reggae lovers roots rock tune “ain t no way / the monster”, an extended version with deep dubwise. you ve got it!

the mushrooms project are well known for their sleazy mid-tempo laid-back percussive style, a sound that immediately resonated with rising stars and newly signed label mates earthboogie. specifically it was ‘dubby bolas’ from the italian duo’s 2016 album ‘rivea corymbosa’ album that really excited earthboogie and equally, the mushrooms were fans of the afro disco sound the londoners displayed on their debut track ‘route ten to interzone’. the mutual appreciation led to this remix project and now, released exclusively for record store day 2018, their complementary productions styles collide with great effect.

alongside long-term dj partner harri, domenic cappello has been a sub club resident since 1994. he has released many records under many guises yet this is his first ep under his own name. 2017 also marks 30 years of sub club and it feels fitting for such two landmarks to dovetail as they have. the intruder ep is 3 brilliant tracks that come from a lifetime spent in music.

there is a long-standing love affair between dj harvey and pikes, ibiza. as well as coming back for his third consecutive ‘mercury rising’ residency, the legendary ‘djs’ dj has been appointed ‘cultural attaché’ for pikes, meaning his magic touch and feel-good presence will create even more special moments at pikes this summer, including the launch of new label, pikes records.
in 2015 dj harvey made his hugely anticipated return to ibiza and made pikes his home for his mercury rising debut, a concept inspired by the beauty of the real ibiza, the incredible history of pikes and a genuine love for music. the love, the dancing, the music and the balearic spirit perfectly and poetically encapsulated by dj harvey has seen mercury rising widely recognised as the most special night to embrace the island in over a decade.
the next step in the harvey and pikes story sees him launch pikes records – the first record label founded by pikes owners and ibiza rocks co-founders andy mckay and dawn hindle. on the label, harvey explains: i see so many avenues to work together to release music, everything from live recordings from ibiza rocks and pikes, mix tapes, original productions, showcasing new artists, theres all sorts of avenues to open up. with the finer details still under wraps, its safe to say fans can look forward to the first release being harveys very own mercury rising compilation. but what can we expect from the third instalment of mercury rising? putting it quite simply, just a serious good time really says harvey.

following the release of the homemade waves ep in 2015, the room below returns to don t be afraid with his second ep for the label. the title healing scaphoids reflects on the period of time he spent constructing the tracks, during which he suffered two separate broken wrists whilst cycling around london. one right, one left. both time, the scaphoid bone! unfortunately, only one of the wrists healed properly and the ep retains a slightly broken feel, steering away from four-to-the-floor territory, and with london as a clear sonic influence. 2017 has been a productive year for henry keen aka the room below. as soundspecies, alongside brother olly, he released a collaborative album with afro-cuban percussion group ache meyi, performing live at the barbican in may to follow the previous year s appearance at the manana cuba festival in santiago de cuba.. henry also has a solo ep forthcoming on rising new york label maddjazz, due for release in mid september.

for the 13th edition of code is law, dark stars rising, we have a double ep collaboration between the labelÆs newcomer wyad and chief moerbeck. focused on shamanic black magic vibes, this release is filled with a lot of mysterious synths, ecstatic melodies and groovy beats. this will be the perfect selection for the upcoming summer festivals.

sol power sound adds a fifth release to its catalog with rising tides, a blazing ep from london producer, aroop roy. aroop has delivered a string of hit records on gamm, basic fingers, house of disco, and kampana, and is a welcome addition to the growing sol power sound family.

london’s luna monk steps up to bat for silver lake and delivers two cuts of beatless, otherworldly ambience spanning a total of just over 26 irresistible minutes. an ep of two sides, of sunshine and rain, this is an exploration of light and dark, and all the areas in between. on the a side ‘sun kiss’ breathes and pulsates like a sunrise in slow motion, solar flares slowing burning away the morning mist of a melancholy dawn. a product of london, over its evolving duration it nonetheless bares more than a passing nod to the land of the rising sun.
over on the b, ‘sun setting blues’ changes tact and provides the perfect juxtaposition. this is submersive and aquatic, fractured static noise broadcast to the never ending universe whilst rain streaks down the outside of the window. eventually celestial voices break through the abyss and drag us back from the void. truly immersive work, without doubt salvaged from the bottom of a distant alien ocean...

adventurous and fresh modern club tunes on this 2nd nautilus rising release, the label from the infamous subclub in glasgow. music is my the talented lazaros with a special nod to frankey & sandrino for the introduction. an ep inspired by forests, black coffee, beer and his native cologne - ge ep is a release ranging from illustrative and adventurous to peak time dancefloor tracks that are essential for dj s such as dixon and the likes. at points deeply routed in analogue sounds and at others, driven by an astrological palette. surprising debut release that shouldnt be overlooked. limited edition with special screenprinted artwork. one of those fine release one should own on vinyl. recommended!

temperature s rising, the very first collaboration between perc and passarella death squad,came out quietly in 2010 and has since grown steadily into a cult favourite.now it returns on perc trax, remastered for 2016, with the original vocal mix having a full side of vinyl to itself for the first time.on the b-side is the temperate dub,originally created back in 2009 but which until now has remained unreleased. dubbing out the original mix by reducing the vocal to a few echoing syllables it is a fresh take on an well loved favourite.released on transparent red vinyl
